Aartsbisschop Benjamin Nzimbi, primaat van Kenia, en de Ugandese primaat, aartsbisschop Henry Orombi, verklaarden dinsdag dat er geen scheuring komt in de anglicaanse gemeenschap. Vorige week stelden orthodoxe anglicanen nog in een verklaring dat een schisma onafwendbaar is als de Amerikaanse en de Canadese kerken doorgaan met de wijding van homoseksuele geestelijken en de inzegening van homorelaties. Met zijn jeugdverhaal wil hij homoseksualiteit bespreekbaar maken, buiten én binnen de Kerk. 'Jarenlang heb ik dit verhaal opgekropt', zucht Dirk, die een jaar geleden in zijn geboortestad Turnhout tot priester werd gewijd. 'Het was tijd om het publiek te maken. Beschouw het als een late puberteit: van de daken schreeuwen wie je bent en wat je doet. Heerlijk.'
