Merhaba
Allochtone holebi's winnen prijs Bruggenbouwer 2007



Merhaba vzw, de vereniging voor en door allochtone holebi's, is verkozen tot 'Bruggenbouwer van 2007'. Met deze wedstrijd vraagt het Minderhedenforum aandacht voor de talrijke zelforganisaties die de emancipatie van etnisch-culturele minderheden en de samenwerking en de dialoog tussen groepen bevorderen.

Nederlandse aartsbisschop Eijk nuanceert mening over homo's

Het nieuwe hoofd van de rooms-katholieke kerk in Nederland,aartsbisschop Wim Eijk, heeft zijn mening over homoseksualiteit bijgesteld. Acht jaar geleden zorgde Eijk voor de nodige beroering toen uit zijn collegedictaat bleek dat homo's volgens hem een 'neurotische ontwikkelingsstoornis' hebben. Eijk heeft deze uitspraak nu genuanceerd.

De 54-jarige Eijk weet niet zeker of homoseksualiteit genetisch of psychisch bepaald wordt, zegt hij zaterdag in Nederlands Dagblad. "Of is het een combinatie? Dat zou ook nog heel goed kunnen. Ik heb beide visies altijd naast elkaar behandeld. De kerkelijke leer heeft er vanuit haar bronnen, de Heilige Schrift, de traditie en het leergezag, geen antwoord op. Dan moet je bij de wetenschap te rade en die is niet eenduidig. Het laatste woord is er niet over gezegd. Nee, ook voor mij niet."

OMAR NAHAS' " DE ANDERE JIHAD" GENOMINEERD 
 
Adriaan van Dis, Guus Kuijer, Omar Nahas en Paul Scheffer zijn genomineerd voor de E. du Perronprijs 2007. De prijs wordt op 23 januari voor de 18e keer uitgereikt op de Universiteit van Tilburg, door de Tilburgse burgemeester Ruud Vreeman. Met de E. du Perronprijs worden mensen of instellingen bekroond die zich middels een actieve bijdrage aan de cultuur verdienstelijk hebben gemaakt voor de bevordering van wederzijds begrip en een goede verstandhouding tussen de in Nederland wonende bevolkingsgroepen.   
De E. du Perronprijs is een gezamenlijk initiatief van de Gemeente Tilburg en de Faculteit Geesteswetenschappen van de Universiteit van Tilburg. De jury bestaat uit prof. dr. Guus Extra (Universiteit van Tilburg), dr. Karen Ghonem-Woets (UvT), drs. Wilbert van Herwijnen (gemeente Tilburg), dr. Piet Mooren (UvT), prof. dr. Kees Snoek (Sorbonne) en drs. Geno Spoormans (UvT). (De prijs is inmiddels uitgereikt aan Guus Kuijer).
