Pride Amsterdam 2008
Confronterende posters homoseksualiteit en religie

Voor het tweede jaar komt de Nederlandse stichting Tolerance United rond de Amsterdamse Gay pride met een prikkelende postercampagne. Was vorig jaar het thema Homoseksualiteit en Sport, dit jaar wordt gekozen voor het thema Geloof in Liefde. Ook dit jaar verwacht Tolerance United dat de campagne spraakmakend zal zijn en veel aandacht zal krijgen van publiek en media.

Geloof, hoop en liefde is het thema van de Gay Pride 2008. Stichting Tolerance United springt hierop in met een postercampagne die ten doel heeft om homoseksualiteit binnen levensbeschouwelijke kring op een positieve manier bespreekbaar te maken. De focus van het initiatief ligt op wat ons bindt en niet op wat ons scheidt.

Lambeth conferentie 2008

LAMBETHCONFERENTIE SCHUIFT MOEILIJKHEDEN OP LANGE BAAN

Vooral tijdens de laatste dagen van de Lambethconferentie, het tienjaarlijkse overleg van anglicaanse bisschoppen, werd duidelijk hoe moeilijk de dialoog ligt over de heikele punten (homoseksualiteit, vrouwenwijding), die voor zo’n grote verdeeldheid zorgen binnen de anglicaanse wereldkerk. De facto wordt gestreefd naar een moratorium op nieuwe wijdingen van homoseksuele bisschoppen, terwijl de homoseksuele bisschoppen in de Verenigde Staten en Canada wel op post kunnen blijven. Er wordt ook een forum opgericht dat als een buffer kan dienen, wanneer er zich in de toekomst nieuwe moeilijkheden aandienen.

Pater Jan van Kilsdonk overleden

In zijn woonplaats Amsterdam is Pater Jan van Kilsdonk (op dinsdag 1 juli 2008) in zijn slaap overleden. Van Kilsdonk werd 91 jaar oud. 

De uit Brabant afkomstige Jan van Kilsdonk was tot en met 1982 jaren actief als studentenpastor in Amsterdam. Hij stond bekend om zijn progressieve opvattingen. Van Kilsdonk was tegenstander van het verplichte priestercelibaat en kwam op voor de rechten van vrouwen.
 
In de jaren zestig eiste het Vaticaan zijn ontslag als studentenpastor nadat hij in een rede de 'geestelijke terreur'  van de leiding van de RK-Kerk had gehekeld. Na overleg met de toenmalige bisschop van Haarlem, Jan van Dodewaard, werd die eis teruggenomen.
